50-word story: Dresden

We waited in the cellar for what seemed like hours. The bombs just kept on falling. Second by second, we could hear and feel their impact.

Then, suddenly, there was silence. It felt wonderful.

We carefully went up the cellar steps, and pushed open the hatch.

The fireball engulfed us.
