Parody: Not Now, Teacher!

with apologies to Allan Ahlberg (Not Now, Nigel)

Not now, Teacher!

It’s only ten past nine

And I just don’t feel like working

Do we have to start on time?

Not now, Teacher!

It’s only half past ten

I’m playing with my pencil

And you’re cross with me again!

Not now, Teacher!

It’s only just eleven

And I’m talking of my party

‘Cos tomorrow I’ll be seven…

Not now, Teacher!

it’s almost time for lunch

And I know i haven’t started

But I need some food to munch

Not now, Teacher!

It’s only ten past one

I don’t want to sit and listen

I just want to have some fun.

Not now, Teacher!

It’s onlyhalf past two

And I really can’t be bothered

So I’m fiddling with my shoe.

Not now, Teacher!

It’s nearly five to three

I’ll do some work tomorrow

But right now I want my tea!

  1. I didn’t know Not now, Nigel before I read your parody Emily. So that’s 2 new poems I’ve learnt today (I Googled the original!) Actually I think yours is much better than the other one. Well done!
