Poem: My Child

I sat there and I worried

Knew every kind of fear

I knew he would get better

But still I shed a tear

His bravery was boundless

He took it in his stride

The day they operated

It opened my eyes wide

If only they could do it

To me and not to him

I’d put myself into his place

I’d lose even a limb

Oh, Doctor, please take care

And do your very best

Imagine it was your child

Your skills will do the rest.
